It's been eight years since Frank Kratzer bought his first set of decks. Now, what started as a hobby has become a true passion that bridges both his personal and professional life. Sparkinzi, who originally hails from Reno, began spinning after moving to California in 2004. Sparkinzi's mixing origins were built on a diverse foundational influence of jazz, funk, soul and rock music combined with strong personal experiences of being involved in the Burning Man community since the mid-90s. As a recreational DJ, Sparkinzi worked tirelessly to glean technique and tactics from his close friends and mentors, Aaron-Carl, Rick Preston, Mourad Sliti and Papouban. Since that first remix, he has released a number of singles, EPs and remixes under his own name and the moniker, Sam Pleen. While Sam Pleen is less often seen in the release world, his tracks have repeatedly climbed to, and stayed in for several weeks, the Top 20 of Stompy's Deep House offerings.

In addition to his musical talent, Sparkinzi has taken his professional talent, web development, and created the online radio station, DeepTechSoul.com, featuring the unique mission of mutual support by featuring mixes that each showcase one specific record label's music. This revolutionary concept, combined with Sparkinzi's technological genius that automates the promotion process while simultaneously integrating the relationships with each label, has been phenomenally well-received with a 20% monthly growth rate since it's launch over the past 6-months, currently boasting an active listenership of over 7,000 unique monthly listeners.
